of the 16-17th Century, similar to the

earlier uniforms of the Swiss Guard

at the Vatican. The colours red & white

would relate to the "national level",

i.e. the Swiss Flag, but could also be related

 to one of the 26 Cantons of Switzerland:

 Kanton Schwyz, one of the 3 founding

 Cantons of "Switzerland" in 1291.
